Aworowa Project

Action+Hope=Success

The lack of routine screening for mental health in schools and other settings in Ghana increases their exposure to undiagnosed depression. In 2011, UNICEF’s estimations indicated that 17.3 million children younger than 18 years of age lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS-related illnesses, and about 90% of these orphans were living in Sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. John W. Munson and his wife Barbara along with support from missionaries from Wisconsin United Methodist Churches are doing their best to provide hope to over 70 orphans in Aworowa Ghana, Dr. Munson and his wife Barbara started the Aworowa project in 2006 to provide education, medical care, housing, and provide a bright future. Building self-esteem and instilling hope for a better future. Changing the world starts with people reaching out to help others that are in need.
