Who we are!

For four decades, Dr. John Munson shaped minds as a professor and university administrator at UW-Stevens Point, retiring from his academic role in 2007. However, his true passion for exploration was ignited long before retirement when he founded UWSP Adventure Tours, guiding mature adults on vibrant wellness expeditions across the United States, Europe, and Costa Rica. By his side on many of those early treks was his wife, Barb, a retired registered nurse specializing in nephrology. Married for 59 years, John and Barb have dedicated their lives to raising two sons, enjoying their four wonderful grandchildren near their home in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and answering the continuous call of global adventure.

In 2011, they transformed their lifelong love of guiding into Triple L Associates LLC to help eager travelers seamlessly navigate the world. Their ultimate adventure took shape after a chance meeting with Daniel and Dorea Du Toit, game farm owners in South Africa. Captivated by the region, John and Barb designed an immersive photographic safari focused on Kruger National Park. Between March and September each year, they organize 3 to 5 small-group excursions back to John’s favorite place on Earth, sharing the majestic wildlife, colorful birds, and rich local culture with fellow explorers.

When they aren't tracking Big Game, this dynamic duo lives life to the absolute fullest. Their deep Christian faith drives them to serve others, including regular mission work in Aworowa, Ghana. Barb spends her days immersed in church leadership, community service, her blooming flower gardens, and catching every sunrise and sunset she can—though her all-time favorite trek remains rafting the Grand Canyon. Meanwhile, John is a passionate woodworker, fisherman, hunter, and birdwatcher, as well as an eclectic reader and author. He has written multiple children's books, including his series set in the mystical world of "Bingo Bongo Land." Together, John and Barb's mission is simple: to bring their decades of trusted leadership to your next great journey.

"Sharing the world's most breathtaking places and helping people experience the true joy of travel is an incredibly special part of our lives. Our goal is to share our knowledge, the raw beauty, and the captivating wildlife of South Africa with you. From staying in eco-friendly treehouses and embarking on bushwalks, to close-up elephant encounters, we limit our groups to just six participants to ensure a high-quality, personalized, and unforgettable experience. Welcome to the adventure!"

Our South Africa Partners

Meet Daniel & Dorea: The Heart of Our Safaris

Every great business has its trade secrets that lead to success. At Triple L Safaris, ours come in the names of Daniel and Dorea DuToit. As native South Africans, they bring the authentic perspective of professionals who have lived their lives immersed in the country's rich culture and traditions.

Daniel and Dorea own and operate a premier Big Game farm that focuses on breeding the highest quality wildlife. These animals are offered for sale to other game farms looking to improve their genetic stock on large-scale properties. Whether you are a hunter, bird-lover, outdoor adventurer, or wildlife photographer, you will feel right at home at Kolobe Safaris (named "Kolobe," the Sotho word for "Warthog"). Located about three hours northeast of Johannesburg in the Springbok Flats area, this owner-run destination places a strict emphasis on deeply personalized service, offering visitors an insider's glimpse into the vital role of game farming in South Africa.

In addition to game farming, Daniel is a certified Big Game hunting guide. His Kolobe Safaris offer hunters a chance to bag Kudu, Cape Buffalo, Nyala, Wildebeest, and many more species. Hunting is ingrained in the traditions of South Africa and provides needed income for the country. Farming Big Game provides meat for the masses, just like raising cows and pigs in other countries. Daniels immense knowledge about wild animals and their behaviors, astounds those he encounters. Visitors to Kolobe are immersed in the African farming tradition. If you like to laugh and smile, you will love meeting Daniel,

Dorea is our trip organizer and itinerary advisor. She keeps very busy raising their daughter Ava. In addition, she keeps track of chalet assignments, making sure great food is available to visitors of Kolobe. She is a delightful person, who has the main task of keeping track of Daniel. Dorea knows how to negotiate prices at the various places our safaris stay. She makes the arrangements for housing, pays entry fees, and arranges side-trips of interest for our participants. Dorea is the “secret ingredient”, that makes our safari trips, personal, interesting, and successful. You will get to visit amazing places, see amazing spaces and meet amazing faces.

"Welcome to our home, our traditions, and our way of life. At Kolobe, you arrive as a guest, but you leave as part of the family."
— Daniel & Dorea DuToit
