Ghana Mission Project
Our Methodist, Mission in Action program to Aworowa, Ghana began in 2006. In the past seven years, we have completed building an orphanage to serve 72 area orphans. It opened in January of 2024. Most recently, we completed building an obstetrics clinic to provide prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care for women in Aworowa. The building is done, modern equipment has been secured, but we have one last step to take to open the facility.
We are asking your help to find 96 churches or individuals who will provide $150 each to purchase a power generator that will kick in when the national grid goes down. This happens daily. Sometimes the power is off for a few minutes and sometimes it is off for many hours. As the director of the Aworowa Clinic told us, “It is difficult to treat patients or deliver babies by lantern light.”
The power generator will cost $14,400. Please help us find the 96 donors we are seeking. We ask for the support of your mission committee and willing congregation members to fund the above request. Our goal is to purchase the generator by September 2025.
Each year, we write to Methodist Churches, asking for their support of our mission program and have been extremely grateful for the wonderful support. We continue to complete projects both large and small, as Methodist put their faith in action. Over 90 people have traveled to Aworowa as missionaries to assist in completing these projects. Once again, we are seeking new people who would like to enjoy the experience of being a hands-on missionary in a wonderful country. Our next mission trip is January 2026. If you know of people who might want to join our mission team, please ask them to contact me (John Munson-co-coordinator of Methodist in action at barbjohn@charter.net or call 715-340-4855 for details). Methodist Mission in Action is an outreach program sponsored by St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
