South Africa Is A Bird Watcher's Paradise

Writer: John MunsonJohn Munson

While most of my safari participants go to see lots of big game animals, they leave having seen many varieties of bird’s unknown to them. Bird watchers are in hog heaven as Kruger National Park has sightings of over 450 bird species. During our daily drives we often stop at waterholes and rivers. When this occurs, birds of many sizes, colors, and species are frequently sighted. As an avid bird watcher, myself, I always have my bird book with me and serve as the resident identifier in the vehicle. On each trip it is not unusual to see several endangered species and have a chance to photograph them close. Bring a good pair of binoculars and you will have the opportunity to see many animals and birds each day.
